Peugeot Partner Van 1.9 Diesel Engine Problem
Whilst driving the orange engine management light came on, the engine power dropped to almost nil, poor revs and the engine began to rattle like it was dry of oil. The oil pressure gauge was not on, plenty of oil in sump, and lots on the camshaft under the oil filler cap. According to the peugeot booklet the warning lamp is an ecu warning lamp mainly associacted with fuel injection. The haynes manual isnt much help with dianosing. Any help would be appreciated in trying to locate the fault. 1.9 diesel, non turbo. water and oil levels ok. engine starts but stalls when put in gear. where to start looking to isolate fault?
plugged exhaust, timing. air filter element,
make sure the tuneup is good, there is fuel in the tank, no plugged lines, gelling, water or priming issues, verify timing and compression are within specs, fuel regulator, etc…verify oil pressure and fuel pressure are within specs, no vacuum leaks or fuel contamination. If timing is good, take the air filter out, if no change, and it idles fine, could be trans related, exhaust plugged, vacuum, idle control/circuit voltage/wiring. air/fuel mixture, even load on engine due to an accessory pulley or related. I’ve only worked on one of those once, and I remember having to import a bearing from France. I found everything else in CA and NY.
